  1. Check the simple causes
  2. Review network boundaries
  3. Try a manual address

When a television does not appear in a remote app, the problem is often discovery rather than control. Work from the network outward and change one thing at a time so the successful fix is clear.

KEY POINTS

  • Confirm the phone and TV are on the same router and not separated by guest Wi-Fi.
  • Check the app’s local-network permission in iOS Settings.
  • Use the television’s local IP address only after automatic discovery has been tested.
01

Check the simple causes

Wake the TV fully, unlock the iPhone, and reopen the app. Verify the Wi-Fi name on both devices. Some televisions disable network services in deep standby, so leave the TV on during first pairing.

02

Review network boundaries

Guest networks and router isolation settings prevent devices from seeing one another. VPNs and some privacy tools can also change local routing. Temporarily disconnect them for a controlled test, then restore your preferred settings.

03

Try a manual address

Find the TV’s IP address in its network settings and enter it in RemoteOne if manual connection is supported. If the address works but discovery does not, the router may be filtering multicast discovery traffic. Restart the router only after saving any important network configuration.
