  1. Identify the model and prepare the materials
  2. Follow Apple’s mesh sequence
  3. Dry, reassemble, and test

AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods Pro 3 have model-specific mesh layouts. The correct target areas matter as much as the cleaning materials, so identify the generation before brushing or applying any liquid.

SHORT ANSWER

Identify whether you have AirPods Pro 2 or Pro 3, remove the ear tips, and clean only the meshes Apple identifies. Apple’s current deeper method uses specified micellar water, distilled water, a soft children’s toothbrush, and complete drying for at least two hours before use or charging.

KEY POINTS

  • Remove the ear tips and clean only the meshes Apple marks for that AirPods Pro model.
  • Do not use running water, sharp objects, abrasive materials, or unapproved cleaners on the AirPods body.
  • Let the AirPods dry completely for at least two hours before using them or placing them in the case.
01

Identify the model and prepare the materials

Check the model number in Settings or on the AirPods. Apple’s current mesh method calls for compatible micellar water, distilled water, a soft-bristled children’s toothbrush, two small cups, and a paper towel.

  1. Identify AirPods Pro 2 or AirPods Pro 3.
  2. Remove the ear tips by pulling at their base.
  3. Locate only the meshes Apple marks for cleaning.
  4. Prepare separate micellar-water and distilled-water steps.
02

Follow Apple’s mesh sequence

Apple instructs users to brush the selected mesh in circles for about 15 seconds, blot it, repeat the cleaning passes, then repeat the process with distilled water to rinse. Follow the current Apple article directly because supported meshes and instructions can change.

03

Dry, reassemble, and test

Allow at least two hours of complete drying before reattaching dry ear tips, charging, or listening. Start with ordinary audio at moderate volume. PulseClean AirPods Clean or a channel test can then help compare left and right output without claiming that the electronics are repaired.
